This exhibition takes as its backdrop a majestic work by Molinari entitled Vent bleu (1995), a polyptych composed of five paintings measuring 273 x 346 cm. Now part of the collection of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the work will be re-exhibited at the Guido Molinari Foundation, thirty years after its inaugural presentation in 1995 in what was once the artist’s studio. Arranged in a semicircle, the panels create a space reminiscent of a stage that will serve as a meeting point between the visual and performing arts through new creations that respond to this monumental work. Inspired by the ethereal dimension of the work, Vent bleu invites a conversation between Molinari’s geometric abstraction and the human experience of this intangible element. This extraordinary collaboration between the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and the Guido Molinari Foundation will offer a contemplative and immersive experience of this unique work, which has not been presented to the Montreal public since its exhibition at the Musée d’art contemporain in 1995.
Vent bleu will explore the multiple identities of wind: wind as a natural element, a vector of movement, a vital breath, a physical experience, and poetic expression. Contemporary artists will produce new works focusing on wind and the different ways of documenting, translating, and performing this elusive element. Photographer Anne-Marie Proulx, multidisciplinary artist Maude Arès, singer-songwriter and performer Mykalle Bielinski, multidisciplinary duo Horizon Factory (Erin Hill and Nina Vroemen), and poets brought together by the Festival de la poésie de Montréal will unveil new creations.
