Correspondences. Fiona Annis on tour in the Maisons de la culture

Until Spring 2026

Emerging from a study of abstraction in Canadian art history undertaken during a residency at the Guido Molinari Foundation, Correspondances responds to the history and actuality of this legacy. This exhibition probes links between places, people and events, to pay homage to the practice of correspondence and the tapestry of connections created through exchange and dialogue. As in the case of many of Annis’ projects, Correspondances draws upon substantial research, in combination with her deep knowledge of analogue photographic processes.

Correspondences is now on tour as part of CAM en tournée, an initiative of the Conseil des arts de Montréal, the Maisons de la culture de Montréal and the Association des diffuseurs culturels de l’Île de Montréal (ADÎCIM)

In addition to the images created by Annis, the exhibition is enriched with an audio-collage by artist Stéphane Cocke, in which Guido Molinari dialogues with diverse thinkers, including John Cage, Claude Gauvreau, Marcel Duchamp, Philip Glass, Marshall McLuhan and Fernande Saint-Martin. Two works from the Guido Molinari Foundation’s collection—an etching by John Cage and a poem by Guido Molinari—complete the exhibition.
