Exhibition-residency: A colour field’s embrace. Andréanne Godin

Exhibition organized by the Guido Molinari Foundation, accompanied by a text by Fritz Horstman, Director of Education at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.

Selected following an annual call for projects held by the Foundation, Andréanne undertook a research-creation residency in the Foundation’s central gallery from January through March 2026. In this context, she has deepened a dialogue between her underwater perceptual experiences and Molinari’s colourful fields. After exploring several clay lakes in Abitibi during the summer of 2025, she compiled colour charts that allowed her to examine a wide variety of colour ranges and saturations. Using the clay samples she collected, she produced the raw material—pastels—used to create new works that will resonate with those in the Foundation’s collections. The exhibition presenting the results of her residency will run from March 12th to May 24th, 2026.

Biography

Over the past fifteen years, Andréanne Godin has carried out numerous research projects in prestigious artist residencies in Canada and abroad. In the summer of 2016, she was the first Quebec artist to be welcomed by the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation in Connecticut (USA). She participated in the Studio et Atelier-Résidence du Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec in Basel, Switzerland, in 2017, and then at the Finnish Artists’ Studio Foundation in Espoo, Finland, in 2019. She also took part in a residency at the Vermont Studio Center (USA) in 2018. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in Belgium, Cuba, the United States, France, and Switzerland. Her recent exhibitions curated by Marie-Eve Charron, Si bleu qu’est notre temps (2021) presented at Axenéo7 and L’endroit où tu existes encore (2022) presented at Oboro, have been critically acclaimed, earning her considerable visibility.
