Quatuor Molinari: Music to see

November 15, 2015

The Guido Molinari Foundation is pleased to invite you to the first concert of the Music to see series of the Molinari Quartet, which will be held on Sunday the 15th of November at 3 pm in the main room of the artist’s former studio at 3290 St. Catherine Street East.

The series will comprise four concerts which will take place over the next two years and which will be scheduled to coincide in each case with the concurrent exhibition of certain works at the Foundation.

Thus visitors next Sunday to the show of Molinari’s Quantifiers – both the large canvasses and the sumptuous prints presented upstairs – will be entitled to hear the Six Bagatelles, Op. 9 by Anton Webern, one of Molinari’s mascot composers, as well as Blanc dominant, a work by composer Anna Sokolovic which was inspired by the artist’s painting of the same name, which will also be on view.

In addition, the Quartet will again present the joint work of eight Canadian composers – Patrick Carrabre, Nicolas Gilbert, Jean Lesage, Analia Lludgar, Michael Oesterle, John Rea and Anna Sokolovic – first heard last Summer at the Domaine Forget Festival, and inspired by the outdoor sculpture show then on view at the Domaine, Harmonic Sculpture Garden. Images of the sculptures will be projected while the work, entitled Sculptures in music is played.

Finally, the concert will end with the premiere of a new string quartet by the great friend of the Quartet and of Molinari himself (at the time), R. Murray Shafer, entitled Alzheimer’s Masterpiece
