Renowned for his research and writings on exhibition documentation, and one of the first to theorize about photographic views, R\u00e9mi Parcollet talks to Marie Fraser as part of the exhibition The Attentive Eye<\/em>, on view at the Fondation Molinari from September 14 to December 17, 2023. What role does exhibition photography play in reconstructing and writing the history of exhibitions? What status should be given to images that represent the only visual sources for understanding the exhibition space? What do these images tell beyond their documentary value? These are some of the questions that will be addressed in connection with the exhibition The Responsive Eye<\/em>, presented in 1965 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, in which three Canadian-born artists participated: Agnes Martin, Guido Molinari and Claude Tousignant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the guests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

R\u00e9mi Parcollet<\/strong> is an art historian. He works on the history of exhibitions from contemporary approaches to visual archives, heritage and digital humanities, the treatment of images in the history of museums and visual testimonies in the artistic and cultural field. A researcher at HiCSA<\/a>, he teaches at Universit\u00e9 Paris 1 Panth\u00e9on-Sorbonne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marie Fraser<\/strong> is Professor of Art History and Museology at UQAM and holds the Research Chair in Curatorial Studies and Practices. She is a member of Figura<\/a> and co-founder of the CI\u00c9CO<\/a> research and reflection group. She was chief curator at the Mus\u00e9e d’art contemporain de Montr\u00e9al from 2010 to 2013, and curated the Canadian pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity is organized in collaboration with the Chaire de recherche UQAM en \u00e9tudes et pratiques curatoriales.
