As part of the exhibition R. Holland Murray: unpacking \/ selected works the Guido Molinari Foundation invites you to a round table with David Elliott, David Liss, and Ga\u00ebtane Verna all three of whom knew Murray and curated exhibitions of his work. The talk\u00a0will last for around an hour and will be followed by a question period. Exceptionally, this round table will be held in English in order to facilitate discussions between the guest curators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Chair of the Department of Studio Arts at Concordia University, David Elliott is a Montreal-based artist, writer and teacher. His large-scale canvases are in the collections of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art contemporain de Montr\u00e9al and the Mus\u00e9e national des beaux-arts du Qu\u00e9bec. Recent solo exhibitions include Million Dollar Bash <\/em>(2017) at Galerie Antoine Ertaskiran and Septi\u00e8me ciel<\/em> (2019) and Sweet Spot <\/em>(2021) at Galerie Nicolas Robert. Elliott has also published catalogue essays, reviews and feature articles for a variety of publications. His Grave Nowhere: The Unstoppable Paintings of Philip Guston<\/em> appeared in the Fall 2020 issue of Border Crossings<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
David Liss is an independent curator, writer and artist living in Toronto, Canada. Most recently he was Director and Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto from December 2000 through 2015, and Adjunct Curator and Advisor until 2020. From 1995 to 2000 Liss was Director and Curator of the Gallery of the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts in Montreal, and during the early 1990s he contributed art and music reviews to the Montreal Gazette, Vice, Canadian Art<\/em>, and other publications. In 1987, David Liss obtained his BFA in painting and printmaking from Concordia University, where his first painting professor was R. Holland Murray. In 1999 Liss organized and curated a solo exhibition of Murray\u2019s work at the Saidye Bronfman Centre in Montreal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ga\u00ebtane Verna is an art historian and an arts administrator. She is the Director and Artistic Director of The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto. From 2006 to 2012, she was Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art de Joliette. For more than seven years, Verna also served as Curator of the Foreman Art Gallery at Bishop\u2019s University, Sherbrooke, while also teaching in the Art History department of both Bishop\u2019s University and the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al (UQ\u00c0M). Since 1992, Verna has curated and organized exhibitions by emerging, mid-career and established artists, and has edited and contributed essays to numerous books and catalogues. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Canada Council for the Arts, TV5 Qu\u00e9bec Canada and the Sobey Art Foundation. In 2017, Verna was named Chevalier de l\u2019Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
